Transportation Allowance to Government Employees | 7th Pay Commission

7th Pay Commission recommended the following rates of Transportation Allowance to Government Employees

Eligibility of Transportation Allowance for Central Government Employees

➡️ During the Leave: The allowance will not be eligible for calendar months fully covered by the leave.

➡️ During the representation abroad: The assignment will not be admissible during the period of representation abroad.

➡️ On Tour: If an employee is absent from the headquarters/duty location for an entire calendar month or months due to tour, they will not be entitled to the Transportation Allowance for that calendar month or months.  However, if the absence does not cover any calendar month in its entirety, the Transportation Allowance will be allowable for the entire month.

➡️ During Training Considered as Duty: Allowance may be given during such training, if a Transportation Facility/Travel Allowance/Daily Allowance is not provided to attend the training institute.

➡️ During the Official tour in the training course, the diet will not be admissible when the period of the tour covers the entire calendar month.  Likewise, during the training abroad, no Transportation will be admitted when the period of said training covers the entire calendar month.

➡️ During inspections/surveys carried out by Members of Special Groups within the city but exceeding 8 kms. From Headquarters or during continuous field service, whether on or off Headquarters: The Transportation Allowance is awarded to offset expenses incurred for travel both to and from your place of employment and residence.

➡️ In the event one earns Road Mileage/Daily Allowance or free transportation for field/inspections/survey duties or tours for a period that spans the entire calendar month, they will not be entitled to the Transportation Allowance for that calendar month.

➡️ Personnel on vacation: Personnel on vacation are entitled to the Transportation Allowance as long as they are not provided with free transportation.  However, the assignment will not be admissible when said vacation period, including all types of Leave, covers the entire calendar month.

➡️ During Suspension: Since a suspended Government employee is not required to attend office, they are not entitled to the Transportation Allowance during suspension when the suspension covers full calendar months.

➡️ This position will hold well even if the period of suspension is ultimately treated as a duty.  When the suspension period partially covers a calendar month, the Transport Bond to be paid for that month will be reduced proportionally.
