PARYAVARAN UNIT TEST : STANDARD - 5, SEMESTER 1 & 2

PARYAVARAN UNIT TEST : STANDARD - 5, SEMESTER 1 & 2

As residents on Earth, our actions can impact the planet and the rest of its inhabitants. Just as major environmental catastrophes, such as hurricanes, earthquakes, and volcanic eruptions, can affect us, our actions can have major impacts on the environment.

Human activities, such as pollution released into the environment, cutting down forests, and damning rivers, have all created significant impacts for environmental health and society. Environmental studies is the field that examines this relationship between people and the environment.

Environmental studies is an interdisciplinary subject examining the interplay between the social, legal, management, and scientific aspects of environmental issues.

Interdisciplinary means that issues are examined from multiple perspectives. Unlike environmental science, which focuses mainly on the scientific component of these environmental issues, environmental studies investigates the scientific and the humanitarian aspects.

Students of environmental studies learn the causes, effects, and possible solutions to address important environmental problems.

Environmental studies majors must first investigate the broad range of issues that our society is facing now and in the future. Broad issues to be addressed include population and consumption concerns, energy use, biodiversity, and global climate change. Each issue requires consideration of the political, social, and economic concerns, in addition to a scientific understanding.

Let's consider the 2014 drought in California. From a scientific perspective, we know that the entire state is facing drought conditions due to low amounts of rain and snowfall over the past few years.

In addition, growing populations and agriculture businesses have further strained the decreasing water supply. Economically, this drought is creating large stresses to the extensive agricultural communities in California, who rely on water to irrigate their crops.

From a social viewpoint, several communities have faced dwindling water supplies, which have prompted government officials to place restrictions on water use and develop relief efforts to supply water to those in need.

This example of the drought in California shows the importance of an interdisciplinary approach in understanding and resolving environmental issues. The drought is caused by a combination of natural (low rainfall), social (growing population), and economic (farming) causes.

Some issues may only affect a local community, such as regional water use policies and their effects on agriculture and local businesses. Other environmental issues have global implications, such as growing industry causing carbon dioxide levels to rise in the atmosphere.

An unit test or examination  is an assessment intended to measure  test- taker's knowledge, skill, aptitude, physical fitness, or classification in many other topics.

GUJARATI TEST : STD - 5, SEM 1 & 2

A unit test may be administered verbally, on paper, on a computer, or in a predetermined area that requires a test taker to demonstrate or perform a set of skills. Tests vary in style, rigor and requirements.

For example, in a closed book test, a test taker is usually required to rely upon memory to respond to specific items whereas in an open book test, a test taker may use one or more supplementary tools such as a reference book or calculator when responding. A test may be administered formally or informally. An example of an informal test would be a reading test administered by a parent to a child.

A formal test might be a final examination administered by a teacher in a classroom or an I.Q. a test administered by a psychologist in a clinic. Formal testing often results in a grade or a test score. A test score may be interpreted with regards to a norm or criterion, or occasionally both. The norm may be established independently, or by statistical analysis of a large number of participants. An exam is meant to test a child's knowledge or willingness to give time to manipulate that subject.

A standardized test is any test that is administered and scored in a consistent manner to ensure legal defensibility. tests are often used in education, professional certification, psychology the military, and many other fields.
A non-standardized test is usually flexible in scope and format, variable in difficulty and significance. Since these tests are usually developed by individual instructors, the format and difficulty of these tests may not be widely adopted or used by other instructors or institutions.

A non-standardized test may be used to determine the proficiency level of students, to motivate students to study, and to provide feedback to students. In some instances, a teacher may develop non-standardized tests that resemble standardized tests in scope, format, and difficulty for the purpose of preparing their students for an upcoming standardized test.the frequency and setting by which non-standardized tests are administered are highly variable and are usually constrained by the duration of the class period.

A class instructor may for example, administer a test on a weekly basis or just twice a semester. Depending on the policy of the instructor or institution, the duration of each test itself may last for only five minutes to an entire class period.

In contrast to non-standardized tests, standardized tests are widely used, fixed in terms of scope, difficulty, and format, and are usually significant in consequences. Standardized tests are usually held on fixed dates as determined by the test developer, educational institution, or governing body, which may or may not be administered by the instructor, held within the classroom or constrained by the classroom period. Although there is little variability between different copies of the same type of standardized test (e.g.there is variability between different types of standardized tests.
A test may be developed and administered by an instructor, a clinician, a governing body, or a test provider. In some instances, the developer of the test may not be directly responsible for its administration. For example, Educational Testing Service (ETS), a nonprofit educational testing and assessment organization, develops standardized tests such as the SAT but may not directly be involved in the administration or proctoring of these tests.

As with the development and administration of educational tests, the format and level of difficulty of the tests themselves are highly variable and there is no general consensus or invariable standard for test formats and difficulty. Often, the format and difficulty of the test is dependent upon the educational philosophy of the instructor, subject matter, class size, policy of the educational institution, and requirements of accreditation or governing bodies. In general, tests developed and administered by individual instructors are non-standardized whereas tests developed by testing organizations are standardized.

Mathematics is a subject to seek and use patterns to formulate new conjectures resolve the truth or falsity of conjectures by mathematical proof. When mathematical structures are good models of real phenomena, then mathematical reasoning can provide insight or predictions about nature.

Through the use of abstraction and logic, mathematics developed from counting, calculation,measurement, and the systematic study of the shapes andmotions of physical objects. Practical mathematics has been a human activity from as far back as written records exist. The research required to solve mathematical problems can take years or even centuries of sustained inquiry.

Rigorous arguments first appeared in Greek mathematics, most notably in Euclid's Elements. Since the pioneering work of Giuseppe Peano (1858-1932), David Hilbert (1862-1943), and others on axiomatic systems in the late 19th century, it has become customary to view mathematical research as establishing truth by rigorous deduction from appropriately chosen axioms and definitions.

Mathematics developed at a relatively slow pace until the Renaissance, when mathematical innovations interacting with new scientific discoveries led to a rapid increase in the rate of mathematical discovery that has continued to the present day.

Galileo Galilei (1564–1642) said, "The universe cannot be read until we have learned the language and become familiar with the characters in which it is written. It iswritten in mathematical language, and the letters are triangles, circles and other geometrical figures, without which means it is humanly impossible to comprehend a single word.

Without these, one is wandering about in a dark labyrinth." Carl Friedrich Gauss (1777–1855) referred to mathematics as "the Queen of the Sciences". Benjamin Peirce (1809–1880) called mathematics "the science that draws necessary conclusions". David Hilbert said of mathematics: "We are not speaking here of arbitrariness in any sense.

Mathematics is not like a game whose tasks are determined by arbitrarily stipulated rules. Rather, it is a conceptual system possessing internal necessity that can only be so and by no means otherwise." Albert Einstein(1879–1955) stated that "as far as the laws of mathematics refer to reality, they are not certain; and as far as they are certain, they do not refer to reality."

Mathematics is essential in many fields, including natural science, engineering, medicine, finance and the social sciences. Applied mathematics has led to entirely new mathematical disciplines, such as statistics and game theory.

Mathematicians engage in pure mathematics, or mathematics for its own sake, without having any application in mind. Practical applications for what began as pure mathematics are often discovered.
