The year 2021 has started with the good news of the covid vaccine. The covishield and covacin vaccines have been approved. The CoWIN application has been launched by the Union Ministry of Health so that the vaccine reaches people. This application will help in the real-time monitoring of vaccine delivery. Through the application, the government will be able to keep the data of vaccinated people safe.


The vaccination will be done after registering in this application. However, the application is not currently available on the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store. According to some reports, the production work on this app has not yet been completed.


What is the CoWIN app?
Co-WIN (Covid-19 Vaccine Intelligence Network) is an enhanced version of eVIN (Electronic Vaccine Intelligence Network). Once the application is complete, it will be available for free on the Play Store and App Store. The Ministry of Health has clarified that the corona vaccination will be carried out in 3 phases. 

The vaccine will be administered to first-line professionals in the first phase, to people involved in emergency services in the second phase, and to people with serious illnesses in the third phase.

The registration process in the Co-WIN app

Vaccination requires registration in the application. However, the application is not currently available for installation. According to media reports, the registration process will be as follows ...

  • A photo and ID will be required for self-registration on the official Covin website.

  • Water ID, Aadhaar card, driver's license, passport, and pension document can be used in identification.

  • The mobile number must be submitted during registration.

  • Once the registration is made, the date, time and place of vaccination will be informed via SMS.

5 modules of the Covin application
From this application, the vaccination process will be worked on a platform for administrative activities, vaccination personnel and all those who are about to be vaccinated. Includes administrative module, registration module, vaccination module, beneficiary acceptance module and report module.


Administrative module: The people who will manage the vaccination event. They will determine the session through this module. Provide information to vaccinators and providers through notifications.


Registration module: this module is for those who have registered in the vaccination program.


Vaccination module: will verify the information of people who have registered for vaccination and will also provide a status update


Beneficiary Acceptance Module: It will send a message to the recipients of the vaccine. It will also generate a QR code and people will also get an electronic certificate of the vaccine.


Report Module: Through it the report of the vaccination program will be prepared. For example, how many vaccination sessions were conducted, how many people were vaccinated, how many people were registered but not vaccinated, etc.
